Let’s face it, golf’s popularity has grown substantially over the past 10 years, and more families are choosing golf as a vacation must do. So if you want to mix vacation and golf, Myrtle Beach has to be on the top of your list and is why we created this Top Myrtle Beach Golf Courses 2018 list.
I lived in Myrtle Beach more than 5 years in the early 2000’s and use to work and play at some of the top golf courses in the area. Some of the courses I use to play are in even better shape than they use to be, and others fell by the wayside. In this article, we go over the Top Myrtle Beach Golf Courses 2018 to play.
5. World Tour Golf Links

This amazing course is truly a unique experience for golf on the Grand Strand. The course is designed to mimic holes found around the world from Augusta National to St. Andrews. In addition to the cool factor that World Tour provides, the course is regularly in great shape.
They took the design of each hole very seriously, you may even forget you really are not playing Amen Corner at Augusta National. This course is a must play on the Grand Strand.
4. Man O War Golf Club

If you are looking for a beautiful and challenging course, Man O War Golf Club may be the ticket. This course has enough water to keep you on your toes but is still playable for the newcomer. The course features Crenshaw Bent Grass on the greens while the fairways are 419 Bermuda grass. From the black tees, the course plays 6,976 yards. This is a challenging but rewarding course to play next time you’re in Myrtle Beach.
3. Dunes Golf & Beach Club

One of the most respected and revered courses in the Myrtle Beach area, The Dunes Golf & Beach Club is a must play at least once while in Myrtle Beach. Each hole on the course was given its own name so you know the ‘personality’ of the hole. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones and has a rating of 76.1. The 13th hole known as Waterloo is the signature hole of the course that is sure to give you a challenge. The Dunes Golf & Beach Resort is a must play in Myrtle Beach.
2. Caledonia Golf & Fish Club

This former rice plantation turned a world-renowned golf course is one of the most prestigious and beautiful golf courses in South Carolina. If you talk to any golfer that has played Caledonia, they will have nothing but rave reviews for the club.
Even the best golfers can find some shots very challenging, but this is also a reason players return year after year. Caledonia is a one of a kind golf experience in the Myrtle Beach area. This course had to be on our Top Myrtle Beach Golf Courses 2018 list.
1. TPC Myrtle Beach

TPC MB, a Tom Fazio design, is for sure to leave a lasting impression. This very challenging PGA Tour caliber course features multiple elevation changes, tour quality bunkers, and greens that will leave you curious how your ball did not stay on.
If you want to play a course very close to what the tour pro’s play, this is the course. The greens are fast, and the ruff is less than forgiving. This may not be the course to take your girlfriend or wife if you are trying to get them to ‘love’ the game as you do.
In Closing
This Top Myrtle Beach golf courses 2018 list may have many out there in agreement, while others may have 5 completely different courses in mind. I base my list on playability, prestige, fun, and ratings. Each of these courses has received extremely high marks from players and have many returning golfers visiting year after year. I will be expanding this list very soon. If you have a course that you think should be on the list, please email me at c.freeman@sctravelguide.com
